    Patterning help at 25 yards

I just bought a bunch of new chokes. If I'm patterning chokes at a 25-yard range, how do I translate that out to 40 yards?

Should I look for 15" concentrations instead of 30" concentrations?

    I've got a selection of #7.5 shot in 12ga.

It's hard to extrapolate how it will actually pattern at 40yds by looking at the 25yd pattern. Other than that, I am no help.

I don't think you can extrapolate it...

as spread varies like crazy based on shot size, velocity, manufacturer, etc.

Your issue is that pattern percentages have been forever standardized at 40 yards...kind of a normal hunting distance if you had to pick an average and be able to compare testing from person to person...

You need to find a place to set up targets 40 yds. out.

You could guess by seting up something at 10 yards and something at 25 yards and assume it is linear. Wouldn't be perfect, but if it is what you can get to...
