    Shotgun Import Restrictions into CA

    Hello, noob question here.

I found a nice Winchester pump shotgun online. It is stock 6-round capacity with no tacticool features.

I understand about sales tax and additional FFL fees; however,
are there any other restrictions to bringing in this shotgun into
    California?

    Thanks!

Nope... unless the barrel is less that 18". Just find an FFL that will do the transfer for you.

What winny are you looking at? 1300? model 12? I have a couple 1300's and I love them! My favorite pump shotgun by far

      Dakine surf, Thanks!

I want to get a 1300 Defender or the newer version SXP Defender. I know the 1300's are discontinued and are harder to get, but I see enough of them online to give me hope. If I could find one in
Kali, that would be better. If it ends up being the SXP, buying out of state would be faster than doing a special order and waiting forever.

I wish Winchester kept making the 1300. I heard so many good things about it.

Gun Broker and Auction Arms have Defender's listed all the time. They consistently bring around $300/350 in very good condition and most of the time they sell. Open up accounts and define your search criteria and get daily emails of whats available.

The SXP has no tactical/home defense accessories available, unlike the Defender.

super quick question, but why the Defender?

I like them, but without chokes and no barrel upgrades really available i am much mor partial to the field guns.

For a more "tactical" 1300, I installed a 22" VR barrel... still uses the thoroughly awesome "winchoke" system... a houge overmold stock, and a choate +10 mag extension. I run 10+1... it is awesome. This is of course my USPSA "he-man" competition rig, but it also serves duty as a pretty awesome tactical shotgun as well. The chokes allow me to dial in my spread for each stage.

I think a good barrel option for the 8 shot tube mag on a regular Defender is the FN Police barrel. I located a spare Police barrel with mod/choke and rifle sights that I can switch to. With the extended ramp on the front sight it has no porting, which my ears appreciate.

Cool, I should have figured that would fit/work... very cool!
