Ya not really but for the price they do the job. I have a hawk 982 and for the price they do the job but would I say it's better than an 870 even though it's a clone? No...These weapons are cheaper for a reason.

Well I recently bought an 870 express with the one-piece 6 shot tube for around 440 with tax and dros. I have no qualms with it so far. My brother bought a 981R off GOG, I really like that it comes with a fixed improved cylinder choked barrel plus a rail and bead sight. I don't like ghost rings on shotguns. I will give my honest opinion on the hawk, which is essentially the pardner, once my brother gets it and I get to shoot it.

          What's better:
          - A more solid build
          - Lower price tag

          What's worse:
          - It doesn't say "Remington" anywhere

Now pat yourself on the back and go shoot it!

I have the 20ga. Pardner and a 20ga. 870. Remington feels "smoother". Pardner feels sturdier.

I've only shot the R870 a couple of times but I can def vouch for the reliabilty of the NEF Pardner shotgun.

There a number of things about the pardner that some people consider better,
I personally think its a very well build gun .
I had a rem 870 Super Mag , and I'd rather have a pardner and a 982 for the same price.

This Pardner Pump is my 1st, and I am very happy.

125+ shells fired of cheapie Walmart Federal I have read that it has issues with, it did like to be smacked around with cycle testing before leaving the house, not tinkerbelled to the next shell in testing, so I did just that at the range too and rotated in other brands and some slugs, ALL w/out a single hiccup... ...

I agree with the concept of not having to break the bank for a home defense weapon. That's why I own a Hawk 982 and am very happy with it. Lets not get carried away though and think these firearms are "better" than the main stream models. The ownership of a firearm has more areas that just price for the bang there's also CS, RD and the general years the mainstream weapons have had to refine their firearms. Theyr'e a reason most Law Enforcment Agencies use 870's.
