    Big 5 EAA Single Shots?

I was just at Big 5 and saw that they have some cool looking single shot shotguns made by EAA for $114.95. Does anyone have any experience with these?

I have a Ruger Red Label Sporting Clays with the 30" barrel that I love for all clay sports but I want to get something I can bring for non-gun owning friends to shoot some 16 yard trap. Something cheap, reliable and fun to shoot. Are these EAAs okay for a cheap single shot shotgun?

I'm curious as well, especially how they stack up to the Rossi single-shots that are roughly the same price.

I think they're Baikal. I have one, it's clunky but works great.

I have one as well. Built like a russian shotgun, might not be pretty but it is really sturdy and shoots whatever I throw into it. Go for it

Ive also been wanting to pick one up. My father wants to get me a gun for xmas (since santa Never thought a gun was the right gift for a kid... LOL) and i would rather not have him break the bank so this seemed like a good idea. Ive been wanting a 12 ga single shot for a while and love how this one functions. You break the action open and clos it and its ready to fire without having to manually cock a hammer. Plus the synthetic version just looks plain mean. Lol.

Thanks guys, I will pick one up. Nice to have an extra shotgun or two to take newbies to shoot some trap. $114.95 is definitely affordable and I like Russian stuff, have my first SKS on order, own two Mosins and have my eye on a VEPR rifle and a VEPR 12.

I had an H&R Pardner break-action single shot that I got from Big 5. Nice gun especially for the price. If you can find a Big 5 that still sells these, I would recommend over the EAA. I felt an EAA and it felt "cheaper" somehow. YMMV

Like 89 Vision said the H&R is better made shotgun.

I bought one from Big 5. Use it for clay busting and shoots great.

People have been making break-open shotguns like this for 140 years. They are really hard to screw up. Baikal is noted for their guns being robust. For that price, it is worth the risk. Besides, everybody needs another shotgun. They are just so danged useful.

This is what I have in process with a Big 5 Sale 20 ga. Rossi:

With the hollow synthetic stock, it's light enough to float like a butterfly, and sting like a 20 ga. shotgun.

I haven't shot either, but if I had to choose one it would be the USSG/EAA/Baikal version instead of the Rossi. The internal hammer is the make or break point for me. Both of them are going to be light and kick you in the shoulder. You should probably plan on weighting the stock, grabbing some light loads, or putting a hefty recoil pad on it for new shooters.

It's done, and it's awesome. I'm glad I got the Rossi 20 gauge and not the 12 ga. for this project.

It shoots very accurately from the hip holding the little remnant of a buttstock close to my side, and the Winchester sling from Walmart is just right.
