best reflex sight?

thinking of getting one on my shotgun..it's now equipped with a fiber optic front and rear,the rear is adjustable for elevation but it still shoots over a foot high at 50yds..its really a cheapo thing that sits on the rib.
I have a place for a rail as my receiver is pre drilled for that. Sooooo.....whats best?
You got your Pride Fowler,C-more has a nice one in their RTS, Of course Trijicon,Vortex,Leupold and even Eotech has one..So..who has experience with any of these?..I left out the Burris Fastfire as i'm told to steer clear of them...not sure why..

I should also add that i would prefer one that doesn't have a different colored lens..you know, like the trijicon reflex sights that seem to have a rather greenish lens to them?

What are you willing to spend, and what's your intended use?

I personally think EOTech is at the top of the heap as far as true reflex sights are concered, but they are quite spendy, even used. That said, it will stand up to 12-ga. recoil and field use. Some other brands will, and some won't.

Trijicon makes the best, truely "Reflex" sights (Using ambient light to illuminate the reticle.)
Now if you're talking non-magnified red dot sights, then Aimpoint, EOtech, Tru-Glo, C-mores all make quality products.

sorry, not a thread jack... im thinking about a rds for my shotty also. for the people recommending tru-glo, can they really stand up to high brass buck and slugs? i guess the lower price for these lead me to believe they might not hold up well to prolonged recoil. any input that states otherwise?

Tru-Glo makes specific Shotgun models....they should be engineered to withstand the recoil. My experience is the cheaper the sight the shorter the battery life and repeatability of zero if removed and then placed back on the gun.
I had a UTG dual color dot sight on my Kel-Tec SU16-CA. It worked fine but the battery was gone in 10 to 12 hours of use. It also lost zero after being removed (probably because of the cheap built in attachment system). But heck it only cost $49.

From what I have seen, the trijicon RMR seems to be the gold standard in terms of ruggedness. TSD did some rather <ahem> rough testing on the ones they installed on their slides and they held up.

I have a Burris FF3 on a Marlin 1894c but I have not yet had the chance to put it through its paces. One thing of the bet: it will not be as rugged as the RMR, since the frame over the aiming window is thin formed sheet metal where the RMR has a machined part with hefty wall thickness.

So far for the sights. Key question is what you want to use the shotty for. Hunting? RMR might make sense. Dome defense... I'd recommend training over technology and invest into a good shotgun class that teaches you how to run your gun well in a reflexive and dynamic environment.

I would say RMR, I also happen to have one for sale with a qd mount brand new for $75 less than the optic alone retails for. This is a spare so trust me I'm really a big fan as well. The dual illumination model is sweet which is what I use but the led version is still nice, I think the difference in price is justified.

I personally believe a brass bead is the fastest and lightest option.
