PM sent I have a win. 101 12 ga on calguns. Much better than the entry grade o/u's available now. I have been shooting my 101 for 47 years and still hunt with it. Don't buy cheap. I paid $158 for mine in 1965.

USSG Baikal sport is a great entry over under. I'm selling my 391 to buy one.Comment

OP. are you looking for something to pass on to your kids or something just to take out once in a while? Do you actually know if you'll be out there every week/month shooting?
I agree with the buy once cry once but only to a certain level.
Shooting is one of the several things that I like to do and I only go about one every other month (sometimes longer).
If all you want is to go out and had some fun once in a while, there is nothing wrong with a Maverick Over under ($329 on sale at Big 5 every few weeks)Comment

The one major thing wrong with the Maverick over/under is that it's majorly setup for a righty
It has like 10 degrees of cast-off, making it super unfriendly for a lefty

One thing that most people seem to miss when discussing an entry level O/U, especially some of the Turkish (CZ excluded) offerings is that are they inferior in terms of overall reliability (inferior design and poor metallurgy)... Sure they are fine, for a few outings a year, but if you shoot them much they will wear out very fast...
Spending money on an O/U is not simply about wood, its about buying something made with superior metallurgy and a sound design.. In my opinion, the two best deals going right now are the Franchi Instinct L (steel reciever) @ $1000 and the Browning Citori Satin Hunter @$1299.. While $1000 is a lot of money, it is absolutely chump change in the O/U world.. So anybody recommending a $1000 O/U isn't a snob....Last edited by .300 Weatherby Mag; 11-26-2012, 11:08 PM.sigpicComment
