Just bought my first shotgun last week.

Picked up a Maverick 88 with a little work put into it for cheap, traded my Marlin 925r that had been collecting dust since moving to AZ and and a small amount of cash. Gun is in excellent condition, well taken care of. Has a fiber optic front sight, 7+1 capacity, Knoxx Spec Ops stock.

Looking for a little advice since until now the only thing I have ever done with a shotgun is shoot the ones my friends own.

What I am looking for is a shell holder and to either add ghost rings or put a rail on top of the receiver (if possible) for a red dot or reflex sight. The only purpose this shotgun will serve aside from home defense is perforating paper badguys at the range, no "sporting" or hunting use planned.

I was told by the previous owner that I could get a Mossberg 500 action slide assembly to swap onto the Maverick which would allow me to use a different forend.

Would also like relatively budget friendly flashlight mounting options if anyone can give me some suggestions.
