Remington 870 heat shield jumping forward...

so my shield after say 4-5 rounds wants to jump and inch its way forward after a number of shots. The only contact points i see of the shield to the barrel are two tabs in the middle and the two screw at the very front that you need to bend inwards.

anyone have this issue and how do you fix this?

    Hose clamps.

Seriously, they're not worth it, pull it off. Do a search and you'll not find too many good words about them.

Heat shields were put on military shotguns because after shooting quite a bit (like in a war) the barrel would get very hot and the operator would burn his hands when he tried to hold the front of the gun for bayonet fighting (like in a trench). Personally, I don't see myself doing the bayonet thing...

Remove it and wear gloves if you are burning your hands you're holding the wrong parts

I agree with the others--ditch the thing. Not worth fussing over a completely pointless accessory.

i had the same problem . but i like my heat shield and did not take it off . i have the cheapy plastic one ( cause it wont dent scratch ) . anyway i put a few small pieces of clear scotch tape under the top where it snaps on and both parts on the front where it tightens down . it hasnt moved since and i have had a few hundred shells down it since then . i dont worry about the finish because i am gonna leave it on . i thought about putting silicone and letting it dry but seen the tape first . dont listen to the haters their cool and that problem can be fixed .

Seriously? scotch tape? If your tape doesn't melt, you sure don't need a heat shield. Are you sure this isn't on an airsoft toy?

                      Three ways to fix this:
                      1. take it off
                      2. http://www.brownells.com/gunsmith-to...-prod1123.aspx
                      3. http://www.amazon.com/Laserlyte-Shot...tri+rail+mount

Better hurry though because if O's reelected he's going to outlaw all shotgun heat shields. (they make the s/g look scary)
