    Benelli Supernova Tactical

Picking it up on Saturday. I don't see a lot of love for them on Calguns...any one have one and can recommend some good setup options...saddles, Mag extensions, etc?

    TIA

I like them, but sold it because I had two benelli's at the time. But, I bought some of my parts at Botach tactical when I had it. There asking price is not that bad, but you have to call them and double check whether they have that particular item in stock.

To be honest, you do have to pull out that pesky limiter. Then it's good to go.

It comes stock with a plastic limiter in the lower tube to meet some bird hunting regulations. So you won't be able to put 4 rounds in there without removing the limiter, just 2.

When I added the Nordic (+2) extension,
                    I learned that 4 + 2 = 7

Yes, there's a bar inside the magazine spring. It looks like an orange guide-rod but its purpose is to keep you from loading more than 2 in the tube. Something about federal migratory bird hunting regulations. The picture in the manual is deceiving, they used the same drawing for dis-assembly as for the re-assembly.

I had a regular Nova, the only two things I didn't like about it were (a) the action bars were incredibly loose and noisy, and (b) you couldn't change the stock, as it was integral to the receiver. I believe with the Super Nova you can change the stock, though. And I imagine the clattery action would not be too difficult to remedy.

Also, the length of pull was too long for my taste, for a tactical gun. The thing felt like it was made for Vikings (I'm 6'1 and relatively long-limbed for my height.) I doubt my fiancee could even reach the trigger, LOL. Maybe just personal preference and the fact that I am more used to tactical rifles. Shotguns all seem to have a longer LOP, but Benellis especially.

Other than that, they are great guns for the money. The magazine disconnect button is a VERY cool feature that would be nice to have on any shotgun. It makes "slug select" drills at least twice as fast.

If you get the pistol grip version, the Mesa Urbino pistol grip stock shorten the LOP by 2" and makes it more manageable for smaller people like myself.

Also, the standard Comfort Tech stock version of the Supernova can be field stripped without any tools. On the pistol grip version, you need to have a 13mm socket to loosen the grip before you can pop out the trigger housing, kinda of a pain in the ***.

I got the pistol grip version. LOP is a little long, but seems manageable for now...will probably order some nordic stuff in the near future.

I bought one of the Nova tacticals when they first came out, with the GR sights, bought a Benelli factory tube extension and have never looked back.... strange thing is , is I THINK when it first came out they called mine the supernova ,now it has to have the PG to be 'super'.

Yea the action bars are loose, have not really seen/heard of a way to fix them but the sound of the action wracking should render the rattle of the bars 'inconsequential' if you need to use it...
