    My latest house gun

A fellow at work asked if I was interested in a shotgun his dad wanted to sell for $100 because it had a bent barrel. We'd talked before and he knew I was looking for something cheap to use as a house gun. His dad is in his 80's and did a pretty good job of straightening the barrel in a bench vise but he said it "still shot a bit off to the right" It's an old Savage Springfield 67F 20 gage.

Having the barrel bent and the general condition of the metal made it a fine donor gun for a pistol grip mod. No one makes a pistol grip for these guns so I was on my own. I made an adapter to use an old M16 pistol grip. Barrel is 18.5" OAL is 28.5" and it's light enough to hold out and shoot like a pistol (not that you'd want to).:

I added an old Mauser sling swivel to the adapter for a single point sling mount:

The plan is to blast all the steel and parkerize it, Duracoat the aluminum parts, add an under barrel light.

I received my weapon (flash light) and mount from Amazon this morning, darn thing worked just like advertised. For <$50 I may buy some more!

I ordered the flash light and mount separately but they sell a kit that includes the light, mount, and a wired remote switch for someone wanting to mount it on the grip. The light is 220 lumens but has settings for 50% power, SOS flashing, and strobe. The strobe would likely cause seizures.

When this model is on the red ring is illuminated which could be kind of handy knowing where the end of the barrel is in a dark room:

I cut the lights in the shop to see how bright it was (using the AAA batteries it shipped with) and it's so bright you couldn't read the temperature on the gage over the door. THe beam was set on the narrowest setting, it can be set to flood:

Now if I can get the weather to cooperate, I can blast and park it.

Real cool job. Love the adapter. The weapon is KISS and deadly. Being able to build your own is its own reward. I still get like a little kid on Xmas morning test fireing every weapon I build.

The only advice I would share is loose the sling when it is serving as an HD as Mr. Murphy will grab it and snag it on everything you pass by.

If you're going to a gun fight, take a shotgun. If you can't take a shotgun, don't go.
