J.Stevens 94A Disassembly. Please Help!!!

Got this gun from my Grandpa and I wanted to strip it down and clean it. I got the forend off and I cant get the damn barrel to detach from the receiver end... there was what seemed to be "old glue" or something of the sort stuck between the barrel lug and the receiver end latch... ( Sorry if I am using improper terminology new to guns ) Any help with this would be greatly greatly appreciated... Thanks in advance!!!!
