What type of 870 wingmaster is this? it doesnt make sense?

I am reviving an old thread discussing the wingmasters

My father recently passed and left me with this shotgun.

This used to have the foldable stock which only police could buy when they worked with Houston PD.
Its a nickel wingmaster 870 which doesnt make any sense.
It was shot for the first time about 3 weeks ago. we had it for 20+years

Is this a marine magnum? it has an 18 inch barrel.... Idk...

did not say anything about it leaving as stainless steel, nickel, or parkerized.

the lady was also shocked that it says wingmaster on the receiver.

idk i am going to bring it to a collectors firearms store so they can look at the metal

It is simply a Wingmaster that someone refinished then junked up. It is of no interest or value then any other used 870.

I think you are right. The blueing may have just been removed.

any advice on cleaning it and if there are any protective clear coatings for the exterior?
I know it may cost more than the financial value of the gun but the sentimental value of it is priceless

Good gun oil and a dehumidifier!! Looks like surface rust already. Don't store it in the case.

the rust has been there for years, we had this thing for 20+ years. as long as I can remember(I am 25) I will keep it out of the case.

I will see If I can find a gunsmith that can apply a protective coating to the gun. whether I have to reblue it or not

i was thinking the same thing, looks like bare metal, with old rust discoloration, along the bottom of the receiver
