Less lethal ammo

So while not debating legality of using less lethal on a person, I'd like to just shoot some of the oddball stuff at a range to see the damage it could cause to a cardboard target. Ball and chain ammo, gone fishin, and others I've heard of.

Does anyone know of a place in SoCal that sells this stuff?

Also looking for 37mm rounds.

The stuff you named is just expensive curiosity ammo. It is not less lethal ammo.

The ball and chain sounds and looks real lethal.Rubber or beanbag shotgun ammo is less lethal but not at close range.

Maybe for the "bad guy", but as long as you hit whoever you're shooting at, it will (or should) be safer in respect of over penetration.


Not speaking for the OP, but personally... I have my 870 loaded with 6 rounds (in the tube) of Winchester military 00 buck... I hesitate doing so because I'm concerned with penetration.

Hopefully I'll never have to use a firearm in self defense, but to me it defeats the purpose if I kill who I'm shooting at, but also wound (or kill) a family member... Then again, I still own a shotgun for HD, I keep it loaded, and I don't use "less than lethal" ammunition (as previously mentioned)... I haven't found the answer/solution I'm comfortable with.
