    Magazine tube spring advice

This guy on value shooter has a hawk 982 with a nordic components +1 mag extension. He actually gets +2 with standard 2-3/4" shells using the spring that came with the hawk 982.

I have the same shotgun and drilled holes in the magazine tube and dremel'd the inside of the tube to remove burrs from the hole and made sure the mag retainer moved smoothly inside the tube. I then screwed in the extension.

The stock magazine spring was to weak with the mag extension that the last shell wouldnt eject when pumped. This did not fit 7 in the tube.

The nordic components +1 extension came with a long magazine spring that your able to size yourself. I cut it a bit longer than the stock spring and that fit 6 and ejected the last round.

I then used the other 1/2 of the spring and cut it to the same size, then i cut one ring off until 7 would fit. When it did, the last shell wouldnt eject like the stock spring with 6. The spring was too weak.

This makes me believe that i need a Extra Power spring by wolf or similar. Can you guys give me tips on which one i should get and how i should go about doing this. Id love to be able to have another shell in the tube!

I would buy a Wolff extra power spring from brownells. From there you should be able to cut to fit. We used this spring on my friend's 590. I had to cut down to about 28" (40" is how long they come). It fits all 8 shells just fine and is able to load the last shell from the tube. It's all about trial and error with fitting these springs. Just don't cut too much off if you decide to go this route.

BTW- the Wolff spring is a great investment for any shotgun. I keep a few spare Wolff extra power springs just in case my spring decides to go out.

Bounce a ball in Football that's a fumble. Baseball, no bouncing at all. Bounce a ball in Hockey, well that's a mandatory drug test right there...
