    Benelli M2 vented barrel?????

Im looking at getting a Benelli M2. I would mostly use it for skeet but when it comes down to it its going to be my all purpose shotgun (SHTF). Also looking at getting into some 3 gun competitions in the future. So I figure have one gun and get as much trigger time as I can. I was looking at a few websites and everyone seems to run a 20"-21" vented barrel. Thats fine and all but im looking for a 18" vented barrel. does anyone know where I can find one??

Benelli doesn't make an 18" vent rib barrel. They make an 18" tactical model with rifle sights, but that's as close as you're gonna get without having a gunsmith cut down a longer barrel.

"Mostly for skeet" and 18-20" barrels don't work...just FYI

Most skeet ranges won't let you use < 22"... Plus all the old farts will laugh their asses off at you ...

Or are you trying to buy two barrels?

Most 3 gun people use 21 vent rib barrels to give you an idea. Most benelli people do not run ported barrels because it bumps you into the modified division which puts you in the same class that people use optics/mag fed/basically every bell and whistle... Benelli makes a wonderful shotgun so whichever one you choose, you will not be disappointed. Richmond has never given me any grief on the skeet range with my 18 inch benelli if that helps.

I 'd say go 21 or 24. I have the M2 Field in 21 Vent rib and its a good shotgun..I shoot 3G with it also.

lets say I did go with 18" barrel without porting. Would I have any issues with going into 3 gun with it??

I run my 18inch in ipsc and I feel like I would like more barrel myself but it really isn't an issue. I run a extended modified choke to get as much out of the barrel I can. Seems to work thus far.

Most skeet/trap clubs have a minimum barrel length. So keep that in mind. If you're going for multiple barrels, I'd actually recommend you buy multiple guns. JMHO.

Your tube will stick out past the end of the barrel. Doesn't cause a problem but it could awkward. The 8+1 Nordic is about the same length as the 21" barrel; I use a 10+1 tube that sticks out about 3-4".

My 9 round extension sticks about 5 inches past the end of the barrel but I only use it for IPSC.

                          +1 on this... 21" with a Nordic Tube. I also have a 28" barrel that I add on when I shoot skeet/trap

Benelli factory barrels go from 18.5" to 21" to 24" and up. 3 gunners favor the 21" for a variety of reasons.

Understanding that you do not want too much spread when using shot, going from 18" to 21" to 24" incrementally gives you an extra yard or two to the target before the pattern is too great to knock down a steel plate. Some use 24" when the course of fire favors it.

You also get better velocity and a longer sight radius out of the longer barrel.

Dont go with the 18" it really corners the gun to only one use, HD.

a 21" or 24" works a variety of roles and is not too long to use as a HD gun
