Stevens 12 gauge?

My 12 gauge is a Mossberg 590. I have a friend who was asking about the Stevens due to the price. I know nothing about them except they ae less costly.

Would it last for him to take to the range, get to know it, then be ready for possible home defense?

it's a chinese gun marketed by Savage/Stevens and carries their warranty so i'm sure it's not a turd. let's face it, probably miles ahead of a remington at this point. as it stands, i've handled them and they're not terribly smooth, but seem to be of good quality and priced very competitively. with the pistol-grip stock and ghost-ring sights, you could spend a little time cleaning it up and smoothing it out to have a very nice, very inexpensive shotgun. if i didn't already have the best shotgun, i'd probably buy one of these.

Stevens 320 is a Winchester 1200/1300 clone

I got a rem870 forend and Winchester 1300 mag extension to fit, not a bad deal for $190 at big 5 with coupons

For me it's one of a dozen pumps I own, just a backup gun in a trunk...but it feels good for the money

The Stevens 350 is an Ithaca clone, no experience there

I agree 100% I have the Hawk set up simialr to the Stevans. Differant companies but similar in the fact their both, Cheap, Well made, knock-offs. For the price their very nice platforms.

I have one Stevens 320 with front gold bead sight, not the ghost ring(the same model with ghost ring sight slightly costs a bit more, like 20 bucks more).

It shoots great, less recoil than my Mossy probably due to heavier barrel. After about 200-300 rackings it is smooth now

I like the fact that it has both pistol grip & shoulder stock which is the best of both world.

So far 300rds of both 00 buckshots & slugs, still no complaints...It is my HD/SD shotty now.

yo . took up trap shooting and have been looking into the m320 field model with the 28 inch barrel . read in a few places that the breech opens up a little after firing without being racked . have any of you experienced this .

also if any of you have a field model with a 28 inch barrel id like someoneto confirm that they indeed interchange , ive heard with remington choke tubes ? any truth to this ?

The Win 1300/1200 was designed to have recoil assist in the opening of the breech. They marketed the design as "Speed Pump". The 320 is a 1300 clone, so it operates just as a 1300 should.

ok clear on the breech opening . now i just need to make it to a big 5 with the 320 combo in stock or see if any of you know if the 28 barrel has interchangeable choke tubes . other post talk about the lack of information on the 320 contrast to the 350 . there so much info on the 350 i almost thought i wanted one of those until i realized you cant speed load shells from the side . i like the bottom eject design though . just building a poor mans trap gun is all . thanks 357

update . puchased a stevens 320 combo today . the 28 inch barrel indeed has a interchangeable choke tube set up .not gonna get much use of the 18 inch barrel thinkin of sellin it on craigslist . pick it up on the 26th . then itll get a good cleaning and the 200 round torture test . hope this gun is inexpensive and not cheap .

Cycle Mini-Shells???

The Winchester 1300 is said to be about the only pump shotgun that will reliably cycle the 2 inch mini-shells without modification. Will the Stevens 320 do the same?
