    Semi Auto loading question

The other day i had my first hands on shooting experience with a semi auto shotgun, a stoeger 2000. I noticed that it can not load a shell from a full magazine by simply racking the bolt alone. From what i understand, the benelli shotguns work in the same way. I was looking to buy a benelli M2 at some point, but this experience has made me have second thoughts.
Is this true for all semi autos? Just inertia driven ones? Is it just something i should get over/used to?

    Thanks

Well the gun thinks there is one in the chamber already, you have to depress that little magazine release button with a red dot on it to feed from the tube

It really is a good feature
Try clearing a double-feed (Type 3) malfunction without it.
It can be done of course but the magazine release makes it a lot easier.

This is true, However I have a stoeger 2000 and it's also marketed as an easy way to empty the chamber without having to empty the whole magazine. For example you're out hunting and need to cross a fence. It would be unsafe to climb the fence with a round in the chamber, so eject the round in the chamber and its easy enough to make safe and cross the fence. ( I probably have some of the details wrong but its something like that)
