    First Shotgun Choice?

I am looking at the Remington 870 tactical for 340$ i think http://www.remington.com/en/products...ical-grey.aspx

Or this Escort mpa a for 420$

I have a few questions. The Escort comes with a 18" fixed cylinder choke barrel, can this be used for clay shooting because I havn't seen any other factory barrels for this gun; while on the other hand i do have the option for clay shooting with the 870 by getting a longer barrel. Am i correct in assuming that an 18" fixed cylinder choke will not be optimal for clay shooting?
ANY input would be appreciated, thanks

My first Shotgun was a remington 870 tactical and its awesome.
it is not Ideal for clay shooting but that is not a clay gun yo will still have fun doing it though
you can pick up barrels for it for about 200 or more depending on the barrel
    I'm forever blowing bubbles,
    Pretty bubbles in the air,

thanks for the feedback, i understand if i went with the 870 i could get longer barrels but is it possible to do so with the 18" fixed choke barrel like on the escort? leaning toward the 870

imo an over/under is your best setup for destroying clays.

i love my 870 but i really like a semi auto. either are gonna be great.

somebody said Rem was messing up the 870 (Tac) so it wouldn't swap

all the common existing barrels. But these guys say "no prob" but I'd still d-check.... http://www.survivalistboards.com/showthread.php?t=98628

So you might wanna double check, but I'm sure you can get shorter barrels for Rem Express.

I recommend the Rem Exp Super Mag that can shoot 3 1/2", just because.

For sure but I also want the ability to have a SHTF gun, clay shooting is not my first priority but is a bonus, that's why i think ill go with the 870 and pick up a 28" barrel for it.

yeah of course you can shoot clays with an 18" barrel you just have to buy bigger clays
I am kidding I have fun everytime its not very hard just as I said its not the Ideal Setup

and yeah Might as well get the Super Mag like Squid said just because

If you go clay shooting, it's much easier with a longer barrel like 26" or 28". Some ranges supposedly allow you to shoot 26" barrels at a minimum. I've seen people shoot 18" barrels though. It's just going to be a little harder. Pick the 870 for barrel interchangeability, otherwise either shotgun will work and look good based on your preference.

Go the other way. 870 with a long barrel... Lots of 18" barrels on the market at good prices and few 26-28" barrels at good prices.

Lots of people are getting into clays and are looking for long barrels to use.

This is a good point but I like the factory extended tube on the tactical 870 without having to install it

What Feeder said, exactly, plus with long barrel you can add

super extended mag for more of 'battle shotgun' as opposed to 'home defense'.

Like that Mossy 3in1 deal, but Moss 500 feels too loose and otherwise wrong for me.

Has OP actually at least shouldered both in the store to check ergometrics?
