Ok, so I purchased a barely used Mossberg 930 earlier this week and while looking it over I hear something inside rattling around. I decided to break it down to investigate what might be making the noise and out comes a wooden dowel. What is the purpose of the dowel? It seems like maybe it was in there to limit the amount of shells I could carry ... Does that even make sense? Sorry for the stupid question ... This is my first Mossberg and my Benelli doesn't have any dowel that I know of.

Yea. If it was in the mag tube, it was to limit the rounds to 2 for hunting. I think it's 3 max for hunting.--------------------------------------------
