    HELP novice, First O/U. question

First shotgun picked up today, Stoeger Condor 20G o/u. Cleaned and assembled as per manual. After closing, when I pull the trigger I hear one click. Is this normal ? If so how is the second chamber cocked. Thanks guys

A lever on the upper tang. Like a safety.

Yes, normal. The hammer is recocked by recoil. Smack the stock lightly against your hand or on the ground and it will recock.

SOme shotguns don't require this and you can pull the trigger twice, once for each chamber without the need of recoil to recock for the second chamber.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

Thanks, I'm now getting somewhere. When the trigger is pulled- one click, to get the second click I need to engage the safety again and then take it off again. Is this correct?

          Not quite....

Mechanical triggers go "click" each time you pull (twice, once for each barrel). Recoil set triggers need the inertia from the recoil of the first shot being fired to set the second hammer.

As suggested, fire it once, smack it on the back of the recoil pad (as if it had just smacked your shoulder from firing) then try to squeeze the trigger again....
