I've owned several orig 97s over the years and I personally don't think modest shooting of these old dogs hurts them in any way---they were designed to shoot! The Chinese versions are far more crudely made---stiffer by far to operate and really are just a lower grade gun all around. That said, finding an orig 97 trench gun at any price lower than a down-payment on a house is just not possible. So I suppose if you must have one, that's one way to go---but don't expect it to compare to the real thing.

I got mine for $400 and it was worth every penny. It's a ton of fun to shoot and easy to manage. I recommend getting a good original over the Norinco.
