Vang has had a lot of good people recommending his service. That makes people think he is the best and no one can match his work. Vang doesn't do anything special that other good gunsmith can't do. I had my Mossberg 930 SPX tapped for choke tubes and had a 4" super cone done for $92 total including return shipping. Mike Orlen did the work. My SPX has a less recoil and it patterns like dream, even with cheap buckshot.

Vang does excellent work and charges a lot for it because he can and has a waiting list. Not all gunsmith are good but there are many very good gunsmith that do the same excellent work for much less.

Mike does all of the barrel work for Dixie Slugs. He does chokes work based on centering to the bore. Turn around time is very fast, about a week.

Im not really sure if they are " Vang Hater's". I think it might be that people are really just looking for a cheaper way of accomplishing the same thing.

There's always a cheaper way: send your shotgun to China for the work.
