Anyone used scatter gun tech springs?

I'm looking at picking up an ext tube for my 870 (Remington OEM tube) but I has a scatter gun tech spring and follower..

I've been googling away and seen the follower is junk.. My thing is the spring pictured looks cheap and flimsy. Anyone used scatter gun tech ext tubes?

My question is how does it work? It says it's the extra power spring but I'm thinking that's just a advertisement ploy and it's their standard spring.

And can it work with the factory follower? I plan on trashing the follower it comes with (like green with stick on the back end)

I had issues with my stock follower and tried to cut their green follower down for use in my super magnum.

    Didn't work.

Most quality extensions come with the correct spring and follower.

Scatter gun makes a quality product as far as I've heard.

Scattergun Technologies is the predecessor to Wilson Combat, who produces some of the finest firearms and components on the market. Their mag. extensions are first rate, and I use them on all of my 870's. To my knowledge, the mag springs that they include with their extensions are Wolff extra power (the best). The Wilson followers are also very good, but I consider the S&J Hardware follower better.http://sjhardware.com/store/modules....roducts_id=347
I have also recently purchased an aluminum "Tactical" follower from SBE Precision that looks very good. http://www.sbeprecision.com/Shotgun_Followers.html

So then it should be good to go?

You guys think the spring follower and tube is worth $60??

I know average kits with Remington OEM tubes run around $60 to $70.. At least what I've seen.

And what problems do you guys have with OEM followers? I see this complaint about they so often but I've never had a single problem. What do you guys run into and the aftermarker solve?

The Wilson 2-shot extension, spring, and follower costs $45, directly from Wilson: http://shopwilsoncombat.com/Magazine.../products/163/

Personally the wilson looks horrid IMO. At least in the pictures.

Only one I'd want on my 870 is the Remington factory tube or the Nordic components tube which is sexy as hell but a tad pricey.

Extracting 3.5" shells provides enough space (and by that mark acceleration) to allow the stock follower to gain enough force to push partially out of the magazine.

Never had an issue with my standard express though.

Then it doesn't bother me because I have a standard express reciever only allows 3" and I don't shoot 3.5". No need

I make very nice aluminum follower that is a direct replacement for the plastic Scattergun/Wilson follower.

I also have a Follower/Spring package that uses the Wolff XP spring which is the correct length for Remington +2 extensions.

I was in the same boat for my 870p police trade in. I looked at the wilson/scattergun tech extensions and for 50 bucks, they cannot be beat. I ended up buying a nordic +2 and added the extended end cap. This gives me +3 and it sticks past my 18 inch barrel less than 1/4 of an inch. The option for the extended cap(an additional 20 bucks) is the only reason I went with nordic for that extra round. If I wanted just +2 i would stick with the wilson/scattergun tech extension. For a follower I ended up getting a GG&G follower. It is a cup style similar to the factory plastic one without the spring guide post.

So I'm assuming it's true and those springs don't work with factor followers?

They should. The plastic factory follower has indents that I believe are suppose to capture the follower on the dimple(express/wingmaster models) that possibly could cause binding. I replaced it since I was doing a complete overhaul... No loss in trying the factory one to see first.

I have one of the green followers and their spring in my 1187 with a factory extension..... it works EXTREMELY well, I've tried a few different ones and its been the best for me.
