    help needed???

    i have a friend of a friend selling a remington wingmaster 870,as hes just been made unemployed and is trying to stay a float,if i have the serial number is there anyway i can check the history and currant owner of the firearm before starting the DOJ paperwork??

    can anyone help ?thanks in advance.

    Is it legally under his name? If it is then shouldn't be a problem.

    Just PPT it. Unless he's a gang hanger or it's not his I don't see what could go wrong

      Short answer is no. You can not run a check yourself prior to DROS BUT if you drop in to your local PD, most will run the serial number through NCIC and see if it's been reported stolen for you.

      If you suspect or know it's sketchy...

        im pretty sure the gun is his fathers,as far as the friend of a friend,i know that sounds a little sketcy.....but the first friend is a very good friend and just says his friend is down on his luck after losing his job last month.

        thanks for the info,im a mile away from the sherriffs department,so will just pop in there in the morning to make sure.
