I'm looking for a 18" barrel for my 870 and found the cheapest one off of Cheaper Than Dirt. The barrel is actually manufactured by Mossberg but is made for the 870. Are these barrels just as good/better than the Remington ones? Also I realized that the Mossberg ones are labeled as 18" and the Remington ones are labeled as 18.5"... Does this matter? Thanks in advance.

You are paying $110 plus shipping for an after market barrel with Cly bore.
If you call Remington at 800-243-9700 and follow the prompts to parts you can order the 18.5" Bead sight I/C police barrel for $101 plus shipping. It is part number 242243 and is parkerized. Parkerizing resist rust better then bluing or the matte finish on the Express and Special Purpose 870's. Also the matte finish is designed to look like parkerizing so with both cleaned and oiled you will not know the difference. It will match your receiver unless of course you have it painted or it is a Wingmaster.

Yes, I am and I am a man amoung men, an amazing speciment of manhood. My greatness is the stuff of legends. Just last weekend I please three beautiful young ladies at the same time. I went up to their table to talk, they seemed not to be interested so Left. As I was walking away I looked back and they all looked very pleased that I left.
I tell guys to always call Remington first. You can down load the parts list in PDF from Their web site. You may be shocked that their prices on many parts are cheaper then anyone is selling them.
For example: the 20" bead sight I/C Blued Wingmaster barrel is $118 at Remington. Midway USA sell that same barrel for $129.95. I could go on about Brownells and others but if your smart you will check the Remington Parts list before you buy any Remington part.
Most guys do not know to go to the web site, click on support, then parts and then down load the parts list. You then call 800-243-9700, follow the prompts to parts then order by part number. These guys go to the Country store, don't see what they want and then say they can't find it. The Country store is not the parts list. Hey app I just looked on Remington's site and a standard 12g barrel 18" bees site from an express runs $168 before shipping in their replacement barrel list..

Don't know what you were looking at as the 18.5" Bead sight parkerized police part number 242243 is $101. The 18.5" bead sight cyl bore matte finish Express is $131 and is part number 24620. The parts list has this listed as 18" but they no longer make 18" barrel but have not update the parts list. There is an 18.5" bead sight I/C blued Wingmaster barrel part number 242252 that is $150 but there no bead sight barrels on the parts list costing what you state you saw. I am a Remington Volume Part Dealer and purchase between $65K and $80K a year just in barrels and parts so I know the above information.
You don't search on the parts list so you are not going to find it like that. You click on Support, then parts then down load the parts list in PDF format. You call and order by that part number. Anyone can download the retail parts list and anyone can by parts from Remington.JD McGuire, Owner
