Problem Loading Bottom Barrel

I was looking at a used older Beretta over under 12 ga. I think the model was BL-3. The gun looked very nice and seemed to shoot well. I only used the top barrel. At the end of the test, I reinstalled the snap caps that were in the gun.

Problem was, it was difficult to load the bottom barrel. I had to hold pressure against the barrel to be able to load the shell. Is this normal?

I don't know that particular model, but it could be an indication of an issue with the hinge pin. Also the gun could possibly just need a real good cleaning.
