New Benelli Performance Shop M2 3-Gun

just saw this off Benelli's web site:

    BARREL LENGTH: 21"
    STOCK (BLACK SYNTH.): ComforTech
TYPE OF SIGHTS: HIVIZ Comp Sight
    OVERALL LENGTH: 42.5"
    AVERAGE WEIGHT: 7.3 lbs.
    MSRP: $2699

my question is that: is the configuration of this gun good for 3 gun competition? I don't have experience with the competition. Any advise will be great. thanks in advance.

That is a great 3-gun shotgun! If you can afford it, get it!

There are other shotguns that you can use for 3-gun as well - FN SLP Mark I 22", Remington VersaMax Tactical and the Mossberg 930 JM. You can shoot these out of the box although there are some nice-to-haves that can be done to them to make them nicer. The Benelli listed above has all the nice-to-have mods already done to it.

        SuperSet,

Thanks for replying. $2,699 is alot for a semi-auto in my opinion. I'll search through all the other guns you mentioned. Thanks again!

Its basically the same as a Salient Benelli M2....There is one for sale in the classifieds

Its alot of money, but if you want a serious top level 3-gun SG, its a good choice

Yeah, I guess I shoulda asked if you saw one for sale since competition folks were asking about their availability. Stinks that they havent gotten it together yet as there are obviously interested buyers.

i don't see where they crammed the extra $1500

Seems like you could buy a standard m2 tactical and make the same setup for cheaper, maybe?

Im sure its all internals, but there's a limit to what they can do in there, I would think.

Looks like Benelli wanted to equip their shooting team with a completely in house gun rather than have them run the Salient M2. Looks very nice!

Its not a completely in house gun, benelli sends them to benny hill to do the upgrades, and if you can get your hands on a 21 inch M2 field and send it to benny you can get the same gun a little bit cheaper. If you really want a lower cost alternative get the M2 field, lighten and polish the carrier latch for easier loading, get the c-rums welded lifter, add the nordic mag release and tube extension and you are in business for about 1400 and an hour of your time. It doesn't have the bolt mods done but my M2 cycles faster than I can shoot it and will eat any ammo I put in it.

Call Benny at Triangle Shooting Sports. He sometimes has them in stock.

                        ><

                        As a non 3 guner

What does the top of the line bring with it.

What do you 3 gun shooters look for in a SG that helps boost scores

A few things come to mind:

Reliability (can cycle even cheap WalMart ammo)

Easy to load (wide and smooth loading port).

                          Accurate slugs out to 100yds

                          Light recoil (subjective)

Mag capacity (at least 8 in the tube)
