    Mossberg 930 SPX questions

Is the 3rd gens the latest generations? What's the difference on the latest gens compared to the earlier models and how can you tell them apart? Do the 3rd gens or whatever the latest generation is, have any problems like the earlier models?

Yes, Mossberg has had 3 generations of the 930 SPX. There is a guy over at weaponevolution.com that has a pretty nice write up and pictures of all of the differences between the different generations and what to look out for. I purchased the 930 at the beginning of the year and have about 1000 rounds through it. All sorts of ammo and have yet to have a major problem. One thing out of the box was that the forearm retainer was broken but the gun still ran like a champ.( Top of the retainer snapped and I had plastic pieces in the reciever). A quick call to mossberg customer service and I had 2 replacement retainers free of charge. Just give it a good cleaning. MOssberg uses some sort of axel grease when the package their firearms. I think for the most part that mossberg has worked out the bugs on this gun. It is a blast to shoot and I bring it out to shoot skeet sometimes.

Haha. I put the forearm retainer in backwards too

Mossberg sent me a handful of them. I've put thousands of shells through my 930 after that and it has yet to break when correctly aligned. I bet it still worked just fine though broken. Mine put 200-300 shells through it and I didn't notice it until teardown and there was plastic in the forearm floating around.

I've pretty much been using Eezox on my 930 exclusively and have been happy with it. The Mpro I used in it before would creep out too much.
