Recommend me an O/U

It's been almost a week since I bought a gun, I'm going through witdrawls, can't sleep, lost my appetite and it's taking a toll on both my work and home life. I'm not blaming the fact that I'm single on a lack of guns, but it's a noteworthy coincidence.

I have just barely enough room for a long gun in my safe, have been shooting a ton of clays lately and only have 5 shotguns, so the obvious answer is, another over/under.

I have a TriStar Hunter that's been a great gun so far, it's a bit clunky in the way it operates, and isn't a finely crafted instrument like I feel a good O/U should be. Great gun none the less, and I've killed a lot of clay with it.

My budget is $1000-$1500, I don't mind spending more if I found the right deal, but if I could get something greta right in that price range I'd be happy.
I prefer some level of engraving on the receiver, it better be one hell of a deal for me to consider a blued receiver.

Must have interchangeagble chokes, and either come with everything I'll need or be readily available.

Must have a wood stock, preferably one with some nice grain structure.

12ga, with auto ejectors.

I've looked at the usual suspects, but it seems like everything is either $800 and not on the level I'm looking for, or $2000+ which I'm not looking to spend on this gun. Then again, no shops around here seem to have any sort of selection when it comes to shotguns, so I'm sure there's something out there I just don't know about.

So, what do you recommend?

if you can find a used browning 525 sporting that is a great choice...ported,tubes,grade 3-4 wood(standard),hi-viz,triple triggers for custom fit and feel....625 and 725 are only 5 yrs newer so used might start popping up...ck consingnment guns or used at sporting clay ranges....happy shopping !...cheers.. p.s....field grade have 3in. chambers and grade 1 wood...blue recievers i believe...

Maybe try going to Oak Tree and try a couple of the over-and-unders they have to rent. Tell them you want to buy and maybe they will give you a break on the rentals; like one price for multiple "test drives" or something. Anyway, they have a pretty good selection in stock that might fit your needs. Have fun!

You need to go somewhere that rents Browning Citoris and Beretta 686 series guns, shoot both and decide which feels better.... As a general rule Beretta 686/7 series guns fit me better... Both make excellent firearms... The best new gun in the range you listed is the Browning Citori Satin hunter @$1399... You can get many quality used Brownings and Berettas in the range you listed, but new most of these guns are just outside your given price range...

Another option is the Franchi line of guns... They are owned by Benelli and made in Italy... I would opt for the Instinct L 12 gauge, with the steel receiver... They run around $1000, excellent guns for the money... I will buy one in 20 gauge when funds allow...

I'll be a little different here, and recommend you check out Franchi's new Instinct lineup. Both the L and SL are getting extremely good reviews, and are around the $1,000 mark for the L and $1,200 for the SL.

Going to try to make it to Oak Tree this weekend. Didn't know they had the mid to high end stuff in their rental fleet, but I think that's my best bet to at least see what my options are.

I've been looking at Brownings and Berettas, what I was hoping for was recommendations that would either be at the same level of quality, for less, or better quality for the same money.

My opinion is that the Franchi meets the Beretta and Browning in quality. Without a doubt. It's a Benelli product.

Also try Triple B. They have a huge selection of demos.

shoot a 20 ga. while your there...sporting clays (100 rds) and a couple of rounds of skeet (50 rds) are much more enjoyable the day after when your shooting a 20 ga !!!!!!! i actually shoot better with my 20 ga. than my 12 most days (same make and model gun)...happy shooting...

I have one. I really like it. I got the 28" 12 gauge 3" chamber 2087... $550 for the blemished unit from CDNN... It's not a bad shotgun at all. It's not as pretty as some of the other ones out there and the finish isn't perfect, but people still compliment it. I just bought it for a shotgun to shoot skeet with. Downfall with Lanber is finding chokes. CDNN doesn't have the chokes I want. I thought about buying some and then having a friend machine them out. It comes with 5 chokes, but I want to have an extra of each. Disabling the auto safety is also a snap. You just have to take the stock off, remove a little bar in there, then find something to secure the safety switch/barrel switch in place. I bent a paper clip and made that work.

Page 50 is where I got the 2087 from. Looks like the blemished unit is $580 now. I think I'll call them back on the chokes. Looks like they are listing them now.

Citori 20 ga. is a sweet shooter and pleasant to carry all day. 12 ga is just as good but a bit bulky.

Bought a Citori Satin Hunter today. Looked at a couple CZs, and they were very nice, tried to find a Franchi, but nobody has them, and shot 300 rounds on the sporting Clay course today. 200 with my TriStar, and another 100 with a Rental Citori. It's not as fancy as I would like, but it feels great in my hands, will last a couple generations and I've always loved Browning guns, so it was worth the couple hundred extra bucks to have a Browning. It'll get more cash worth of ammo put through it than the gun cost within a year anyway. Not the perfect Clay gun, but it works better than I shoot.

If I can ever find one, I'll pick up a Franchi in 20ga, the Instinct L, damn sexy looking gun, and a great price.
