Okay, after finally receiving it on Tuesday, I got the chance to blast some rounds down range. Every since I started getting into the hobby, I really appreciated guns with kick. Once I got my Remington 870, I was hooked. The first time I took it out I shot about 100 rounds. Reading as much as I could about proper shotgun shooting, I tried holding it properly. It wasn't bad at all, but I got bruised up.
I then found out about the Knoxx stock (now manufactured by Blackhawk). So I decided to purchase it. Although Nutnfancy gave it a bad review, I moved forward thinking if I don't like it...oh well.
It turns out....I DO LIKE IT. I do miss the bruising of the shoulder, but I was able to shoot 100 rounds today and there is no pain from the shoulder at all. The cheek slap issue I found out myself and when I adjusted for a longer LOP with keeping my face pressed up against the rear portion of the stock, it went away.
Now one thing I noticed is that the safety kept setting itself on without me touching it (was it because of the new difference in how that recoil energy is managed?). At about the 50th round, I trained to slide my finger across it (to make sure it was pushed in from the right) each time I pumped it for the next round.
Any one else have the same issue?
Here's the stock installed.
I likey a lot. Also, I'm sporting the Hogue fore-end with a matching Handall grip.
