If I sell a shotgun to a private party and have to mail it, do I have to turn it over to an ffl dealer here...who in turn mails it to another ffl dealer and eventually to the new owner. Or just mail it to the designated ffl dealer where the buyer is located?

It is up to the FFL who you are shipping it to. There is no legal requirement that it be shipped FFL to FFL.Kemasa.

Nope. All depends on the shops protocol. I just shipped my 870 to a FFL in NorCal. Some won't accept from what I've been told but get a hold of the shop and ask them their requirements and ask all the questions you are unsure about.
All I needed was a copy of my DL and a note on the bottom of the page stating who I'm selling it to.
Only legal requirement is it must be shipped TO a FFL.. But you can ship it your self no problem.Comment
