Remi vs Mossberg +2 extension?

Hi,

I recently acquired another old Remi 870P. I was about to buy a mag extension for it and I remembered that I have an old Mossberg plus 2 somewhere among my spare parts supplies.

Are the 500 and 870 tubes threaded the same?

Just found my Mossberg +2. It's longer than the Remi's bbl by a half inch, but it threads right onto the magazine tube.

Who'd a thunk it?

Wow... keeper! I love it when my packrat disorder pays off like yours just did! Keep an eye on the tension... if it starts to backoff, add a cheap rubber o-ring from the hardware store.

You even feel the clicks as the barrel detent settles into the grooves under the Mossberg tube.

Now I wanna cut it so it's flush with the barrel... Haha

I just stuck a rem870 forend on to a stevens 320 cheapo big 5 special

Only took about two minutes with a file to slightly increase the diameter by just a hair

I think alot of shotguns are more similar than we think

I just looked at my Mossberg extension, and my Remington shotgun. The internal threads on the Mossberg extension are much longer than the threads on the Remington shotgun. Just make sure that shell rims, or your follower doesnt get hung up in the gap between the inside of the extension tube, and threads on the shotgun's magazine tube. There actually is a reason they make different ones for Remington, and Mossberg.
