Problem with Speedfeed Birdshead Pistol Grip

I was wondering if anyone here has any experience with the Speedfeed birdshead grips, especially for an 870/wingmaster.

I just got mine in, threw it on, and fitment is pretty bad. I've seen pictures online of birdshead grips that fit very well on the newer 870s but I haven't seen any on a wingmaster. Is this normal? Should I return it for another one and see how it goes or should I just drill out the hole on the grip so that I can position the grip better and possibly get a better lineup.

Any advice or shared knowledge would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to have to go through the hassle of returning it and getting another if I'm just going to have the same problem.

Looks fine to me, assuming that its tight and doesn't require any spacers or shorter attachment bolt if its loose. For perfect fitting, some filing will be necessary. Most grip makers provide instructions or advice with their products specifying as much. When in doubt, seek the advice of a licensed gunsmith

The second picture is a little blurry at the top but the grip doesn't line up with the top of the receiver and is noticeable. I also don't like the fact that it lines up more on the right side with no gap than the left with the large gap.

The problem seems to be that the hole the screw goes into is too small to allow for minor adjustments of the grip, causing the grip to ride up too high. I may just bore it out a bit and put a larger washer on to get the fitment I want since amazon is out of stock on them anyway. Thanks for the input, Gunrun.
