    Mag Extension A5

I'm looking at adding a mag extension to my Savage 750 and was wondering if anyone knew if the Choate mag extension for the Browning BPS/A5 would work, since the 750 is basically a clone of the A5. I know the Choate has been discontinued and that Nordic still makes one, but have heard (can't find the link now) that there is some kind of problem when using the Nordic.

    Thanks.

Do Not Pass Go, Do Not Collect $200 ...

The Savage 700 series shotguns (primarily the 720, 745, 750 and 775, but also a few odd numbers in between) are for the most part copies of the Remington Model 11, which is closely related to, but not a copy of, the Browning A-5. Most of the internal parts of the Savage and Remington will interchange with fitting. Essentially none of the Savage or Remington parts will interchange with the Browning. The mag cap thread pattern of the Savage/Remington is not the same as that for the Browning. You'll need to find a mag extension that is specifically made for the Savage/Remington, Browning is a no-go.

Edit: I've read that the mag tube extensions for the Remington 870 will also work on the Model 11. If so, they should also work on the Savage 700 series.
