    Caldwell Claycopter

I'm thinking about getting one. Anybody have experience with them?

Unfortunately I don't but I have watched just about every YouTube video that exists on it. Looks awesome. If I had land where I could shoot, I would 100% buy one. The reviews have been almost universally positive.

Thanks Capy. My concern was the 'uniqueness' of the clay pigeon. I guess I'll get one and take it out to the duck club my friend belongs to. There's water so any missed/broken birds will be dissolved in the water.

Looks like the Caldwell targets cost almost double per piece compared to standard White Flyer clays...

        White Flyer 108mm Blackout: $20 for 135 = $0.15 per target
        Caldwell 90mm Claycopter: $44 for 200 = $0.22 per target
        Caldwell 110mm Claycopter: $56 for 200 = $0.28 per target

The Claycopter targets do fly in cooler ways than the standard clays though...

Hopefully Caldwell has a long term commitment to making those targets or the other manufacturers are picking up making them. It is a boutique product so hopefully there is enough of a market for long term ecosystem using those targets?
Guess it's a gamble like most other things these days.

I'm going to take a leap of faith and buy the launcher and some clays.

Well, I bought a launcher and a sleeve of 50 110mm clays for $257.22 it's at my LGS. They said the bigger ones are easier to hit as they are larger (makes sense) and still go out to 100 yards. I said the shotguns don't go out that far. The distance can be adjusted.

I was up at the range yesterday busting clays with my Model 42 and came across a couple of ClayCopters... I had never seen them before. Unfortunately, whoever launched them was not around, so couldn't see them in action.

I like the portability of the set up. If I didn't already have my Champion thrower I would consider one.

Grendel Guy, let us know what you think about the ClayCopter set up, thx.

Will do DRA. I was thinking of the battery powered clay thrower but it's bulkiness gave me reservations. On the other hand now I need to bring someone with me. Wouldn't be a problem but everyone is so busy.
