Beretta A400 Xtreme Plus

I just wrote another post in the hunting forum regarding being schooled to hunt Turkey in So Cal.
I guess my question is Im looking for an above average shotgun and from the guys I deep sea fish with every year, this seems to be the choice.
I mean these guys hunt Africa for God knows what.

My question is, Is it worth the investment? I have been wanting an M1014 forever but never pulled the trigger because of practical usage.
Would it be a good all around choice if I decide to hunt ducks, turkey and such?

It’s pretty good. Same basic action as the 1301. Cycles everything, runs even when dirty. Not cheap however. I liked it enough to buy a second a400 in 20g.

The A400 is a great gun, if you're going to shoot it a lot (skeet. trap and hunting) and have the budget go for it.

If it's going to just sit in the safe, find a good used A300 and save a lot of money.
There are a lot of other good and less expensive (than the A400) options out there as well.

The M1014 is a terrible choice for hunting and/or the clays games.

I too have an A400 in 28 gauge and like it a lot. The biggest issue is that it throws the empties a LLLLOOOONNNNGGGG ways out. Could be a problem with shooting trap or skeet with others close by (?).
I always pick up my empties while hunting as well, so it's a PITA finding them at times.
It could be due to being a 28 gauge though, not sure?

Skeet shouldn't have anyone in the path of an ejected hull. Trap shooters would probably have a meltdown. I don't know if anyone makes a shell catcher for a 28 gauge, a rubber band might keep it from irritating the trap guys.
I guess I need to shoot my 28 gauge A400 at the skeet range before I hunt with it. I pick up my hulls while hunting as well. It's a pain to mark the birds and pick up hulls when the shooting is fast and furious.

There’s just certain firearms for certain situations, I don’t think a 1014 would be as good as a dedicated turkey gun - you may bag a turkey but there may be better choices.

I own a Benelli 1014 and other Benelli’s. They are great SG’s and built like a tank. The 1014 is also a very soft shooting SG ( one of the softest I’ve shot ), but the 1014 is a Combat built 12g SG 1st and formost.
Money ? You will not even think about the price once you have and have shot the Benelli 1014

That gun is the best shotgun on the market. You wont be sorry
