I've been looking at this home defense shotgun in a .410 so it'd be an easier shot for my gal but I can't seem to find a great review on it. I guess it's too new and I definitely don't want to be the test dummy. There are certain purchases I wish I had waited. One would think that with barely any moving parts that it would be a slam dunk. Anyone have anything to say about this thing?

Interesting concept. Stupid pricing in that link.
I don't understand the description of the trigger. Would all the barrels fire at once?
Edit: I think I get it. One firing pin on a circular plate that rotates 120 degrees with each trigger pull
much like a revolver cylinder.Last edited by justMike; 08-15-2025, 8:18 PM. -
As the owner of an AOW and an NRA Shotgun Instructor, I don't know if a pistol grip shotgun is the most practical HD weapon, they are challenging to shoot accurately and definitely not the gun for an inexperienced shooter.
I would recommend a 20 ga pump or semi auto at 1/3 of the cost, add a light to it and most importantly, get your girlfriend to the range to actually shoot and practice.
IMHO, .410 kind of sucks for HD, a load of .410 000 buck only has 3-4 pellets so at close ranges, it will essentially have little to no spread. and she only has 3-4 chances of hitting a target to stop a threat. .20 ga is far more practical
Also, if recoil is a real issue, get something (Beretta or Mossberg) and put an SGA Magpul buttstock on it and then add a Limbsaver. Seriously small recoil and she might actually be able to hit her target.
If you are concerned about her ability to cycle a pump, you could get her a side by side or OU .20 ga? Only two shells instead of five to seven for a proper HD shotgun though
$1,600 is ridiculous as well for what is essentially a novelty gun. A decent HD shotgun with a light and laser on it would be well under half the cost. Spend the rest on ammo and getting her to the range to train, and ideally a tactical shotgun class or two.Last edited by Capybara; 08-16-2025, 4:41 PM.NRA Certified Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor, Shotgun Instructor and Range Safety Officer

Well dang. I'm just seeing the replies. Sorry guys. Usually, I would get a notification. Hmm. Thanks for getting back and I agree. Stupid pricing, novelty gun, underpowered for HD... I'm definitely not going that route. Honestly, my SA XDm 40 with the light laser is plenty for HD and the recoil is light enough for her.Comment

I agree totally with Capy on this one. It's made by Charles Daly so it is likely a well made gun. but the Pistol grip is a deal breaker for HD as is .410 bore. My .410 is a Citori Sporting Clays Edition o/u with 32" bbls. And it is a fun gun to shoot Skeet with, But it ain't a HD Defense gun unless that's all I can get ahold of. Then I'm shooting them in the face for best results.
My recommendation is also a 20 ga.. It could be a Pump, Semi Auto, SxS or O/U but what ever you get her she must get trained on how to use it. Plenty of instructors in SoCal that can train her in basic usage and how to Defend your Home and she doesn't have to go to Thunder Stick to be able to do it. However if she is a newbie to guns she has to get some Professional Training or else she won't be able to do anything meaningful with the gun.
She also needs to be exposed to the Reality that she may have to Kill someone.? If she is not willing to do that, then she doesn't need a gun . I'd start there.
