    Vang Comp Thunder Stick Summit

Vang Comp is putting on a Big Tactical Shotgun Extravaganza September 26,27,28 at the Staccato (formerly Front Sight) Facility near Pahrump Nevada.

This 3 day event will have @10 different individual classes put on by some of the foremost Shotgun Trainers in the country.

Go to www.vangcomp.com and select the "Shop" Menu . Then select "Services" and it will come right up. There is a bunch of YouTube videos showing some of what is going to be taught.

We here at Calguns talk about using Shotguns for Home Defense all the time... Here's a chance to actually get some Top Tier Training on the many different facets of Home Defense. Including what to use, and how to use it. What to do, and What NOT to do, and it will be worth every Cent because you will come away actually "Knowing what you are doing" as opposed to "Thinking YOU know"!!!

I've already signed up and I'm looking forward to seeing many of you there.

This looks amazing, I wanted to go out there with you. Unfortunately, I have a recurring job every Sunday and have only trained one person to do my job and that person is NOT available on Sunday, the 28th so I'm hosed.
It's our largest client and the whole thing hinges on me directing it so I am stuck. I even thought about just going for two days but I would have leave early Saturday to get back and prep for the job and load gear, just not worth it
    for me to go.

Let us know how it goes and post if you find any other good SoCal friendly Tactical Shotgun classes. I've hunted around and there don't seem to be many good shotgun classes in Socal that will give you this kind of training, with movement,
    reloads under pressure, etc.

Solution: Prep for meeting before you go, Leave Saturday afternoon or night or earlier after your last course you wanted to go to. You can leave any time you want, nobody will stop you .

There will be 10 or so courses offered. Each one about 4 hours long. You can sign up for as many or few as you wish.

Don't you live in TO? Its a 4-5 hr. drive back if you go thru Baker on the way back.

I have made it from the M Casino at the bottom of the Strip in LV to the Shell Station in Oak View in 4 hours 15 minutes and got 48 MPG in my Wife's Passat. That would have been about 3 hours to TO.

      But I digress?

Love to see you there, and you've still got 2 months months to figure it out?

Surprised there hasn't been more comments on this thread???.

I figured with all the Tactical Shotgunners here, there would have been lots of people Raring to Go?

You are going to get well over your investment of the Entry Fee, and it is something you can't just get any other place for anything close to $750.

One class at Gunsite or Thunder Ranch is more like $1300-$1500 ! + Driving to Arizona or Oregon and Food and Lodging.

This is 10 different courses of Specialized Training over 3 days and you can choose what you want/need to learn? And there is Nice Cheap Places to Stay and Eat in Pahrump .

Sounds like a deal to me !!!

Bob: These courses are about learning how to run your Beretta 1301, which I can assure you, that about 1 out of 10 owners can actually do efficiently..Beretta should actually include a Shooting School with the purchase of the gun so people could learn how to use one of the more complicated Semi Autos out there. (Shell Trip)

There is a lot more to learn about using a Shotgun in a Tactical / Home Defense Scenario, than Shooting Clays or Hunting where nobody is shooting back at you. Or where you run your gun dry and have to reload in a hurry. while moving or being shot at. All of which will be covered in detail in these courses. Different ways to hold the gun, learning to shoot multiple targets IE: more than doubles.

This is such a bargain it is almost criminal.

As far as the Temps, it should be cooling down somewhat by the end of September. WE always started going back to Front Sight by the end of Sept.

There's no doubt that the course's provide valuable training.

I guess that those that have similar training with other types of firearms feel that what they've learned is applicable to using a shotgun.
They may not want to invest the time and money on additional courses.
That doesn't mean that they wouldn't benefit from the courses you describe.

Some of us just aren't as gung ho as you. 😉

P.S. I don't have a 1301, but I'm going to go look at them today (for the umpteenth time).

Bob: Look at the Beretta A400. About $500 less, and they work just as well. My Bro in Law has one that he is talking to the Thunder Stick Summit.

I personally shoot Mossberg 500's and my A5 all of which have Vang Comped Barrels I can run on them.

I am taking my A5, my 20" M500, and the Monkeyberg (Montgomery Wards M500) the Monkeyberg currently has a barrel with Choke Tubes so I can run a Rifled Tube for Slugs.

All these guns have Open Rifle Sights and the A5 and 20" M500 are 7+1. the Monkeyberg is 5+1

I ran 26 targets in 2 min 7 Sec with the Monkeyberg at a 3 Gun Shoot in Santa Barbara last year, Started with 6 in the gun, Ran it Dry, and then Port Loaded 20 more to finish the stage. I got 2nd place behind a guy with a Benelli with a 15 round Mag Tube on it. Then he Quad Loaded it to finish the stage. He missed 5 targets and had to Port Load one round from his "Match Saver" at the end. Definitely a Race Gun.

Well the 2025 Thunder Stick Summit is "Sold out" and we picked all our classes on Saturday. If you signed up maybe we'll see you there?

If you didn't sign up too bad you missed out,,, but I'll do a brief synopsis of what happened next week after I get back home. Maybe even post some Pics and there will be videos on YouTube quickly afterwards

Weather is supposed to be in the Low to Mid 80's next weekend. Typical for late September.

Pretty Stoked about this Event I'm taking my 3 guns shown in the previous Post, and I've loaded a ton of Slugs and Buckshot. Also discovered "Liquid IV" which gets you Hydrated big time.

                      See ya there?
