    Magazine fed shotgun

I'm a little confused on California compliant shotgun.
    I have a vr80.
If the shotgun is featureless, gripfin, no sliding stock, no flash hider, etc. Can i eliminate the detent that doesn't allow me to drop the mag without separating the upper from the lower?
Or for shotguns it's strictly no detachable mag?

Notwithstanding Section 30510, “assault weapon” also means any of the following:

    (6) A semiautomatic shotgun that has both of the following:
    (A) A folding or telescoping stock.
    (B) A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon, thumbhole stock, or vertical handgrip.

    (7) A semiautomatic shotgun that does not have a fixed magazine.

    (8) Any shotgun with a revolving cylinder.

    (b) For purposes of this section, “fixed magazine” means an ammunition feeding device contained in, or permanently attached to, a firearm in such a manner that the device cannot be removed without disassembly of the firearm action.
Any semi-auto shotgun without a fixed magazine is an issue if it's not a registered assault weapon.
Make sure your magazine is fixed using the CURRENT legal description.
If you are asking about a "bullet button", those no longer meet the legal description of a "fixed magazine".

Mossberg is offering a pump / magazine ( 10 round ) shotgun ( believe it’s the 590 m ). There’s YouTube vids on it ~ believe they price the 10 rounds mags rather expensive.

HOT TIP: Get a regular Pump Action Shotgun and learn how to run it. A Mossberg 500/590/590A1 or Remington 870. These guns handle so much better than a clunky thing with a 4 lb. magazine hanging out the bottom, and when it counts the ability to maneuver it in a tight space will come in handy.

Try something like this, and you won't have to worry about CA Compliance!!!.
