    SBS constructive possesion

If I remove the barrel from my soon to be saiga-12 receiver to cut down to say 15.75" and permanently attach a muzzle devise bringing it to 18.125". Will I have had constructive possesion of an SBS during the procedure? Also need ideas for chokes and breaks for a 12 ga. any Ideas? Thanks guys.

    Don't bubba your s12.

The only extension I'm looking for is the rifled one to shoot slugs more accurately. currently only available in russia and only fits the threaded 19in 12k barrel.
2024 New Year?s resolution will be no posting..

Yup, it certainly could be regarded as such.

Randy Weaver's family was killed over a matter of 1/2".

Why you wanna butcher it I dunno, either.

Didn't you get the memo? That never happened, it was an extremist make believe story to stir up the public.

I can get a 24" one in advance. Of the group buy. Not going to BUBBA anything. Thats not my style. Just exploring my options and absolutly keeping it 100% by the book legal thats why Im asking the question. So what is the answer. Randy was begged to chop a shotgun to 17.5" by a BATFE snitch was it on a receiver? Probably going to go to 18.25" with removable MB. But I want to know my options.

When you decide to modify your barrel, make sure the receiver/action is not at the same physical location... that is, at a different address...
Don't have the two items at the same location until the barrel is over 18"...
            oh this...
            It's a Single Cylinder - Single Stroke,
            Internal Combustion Engine,
            with a Free Floating Piston...

If you were really concerned and it was a slip on and weld in place type device, you COULD cut to 18". Slip device over barrel and tack in place where it will end up at 18". Then use your dremmel and small cut off wheels to cut the barrel out from inside the device in hunks to the desired length. But that would be silly.

Just remove the barrel, loan the shotgun to your buddy (so the receiver and barrel are not in the same location) and THEN chop away to your hearts content.

Just for the record, I plan on bubbing the HECK out of my S12

Its Going to be as close to a tromix build as I can get.

Please stop spouting bad info that will get people into trouble.

'Constructive possession' is not restricted by address. If you had the shorty bbl in CA and the action in your vacation home in Maine, you're still committing a crime.

Send the barrel out for work.

Why not just call the ATF and get a more definitive answer?

Unless it comes from the tech branch, I wouldn't rely on it, esp about legal concepts like 'constructive possession'.

Bottom line: you should not have components, even separated, that form a no-no item (and do not have alternate legit uses for them - like having a pistol upper only if you have at least one AR pistol).

The fact we don't have consructive possession for AWs in CA is what saves our *** for OLL rifles etc.

I think this is the best answer. Let someone who has the proper FFL do the work and take responsibility for it Thanks Bill

Call me crazy but I'd shoot it as is and find out if you need to get your hacksaw out.
I move slow but I make up for it by shooting poorly.

When I hit the lotto I'm only shooting factory.
