    Noble Model 77 Shotgun

I just bought a Noble Model 77 shotgun in 410. Am told it was also marketed as the Western Field 480 and is similar to the Noble 70. I need to do a basic cleaning and rather than muddling through, risking a "what's that ...? as a part goes "boing" across the room, figured I'd ask - anyone know how to disassemble and anything to be wary of.

Gun is in nice shape. Removal of the side plates seems to be the way to go.

    Any help appreciated.

It's been years, but the screws on the side of the receiver come out, trigger assembly drops out. Work the slide back to disconnect it from the bolt slide plate, drop that out, slide forward, move the bolt back to a point it drops.
Important: That bolt slide plate was modified through the model numbers. If it's steel, it's good to go. If it's bronze, and it's not already cracked or falls out in pieces, you can use it to have copied in steel. Otherwise, it's a wall hanger.

Thanks. I dove in and it's pretty much as you described. Just a little fiddling to re-seat the sideplate. Both sideplates are aluminum, no cracks or stress showing. Lots of burnt powder though. This thing was dirtier than a 70 year old 22.

Unlikely I'll use it for much. There are a dozen or so turkeys crapping on my deck though.
