    Trap Question

I have never shot trap or skeet before. How bad of a time will I have if I try to go with a 20" barrel tac shotgun? I just want to try it out a few times to see if I like it enough to make it a hobby.

Here is my exact model: http://www.mossberg.com/images/Mossb.../New/50575.jpg

it's worth a try, if you like it you will end up with an O/U or an auto loader I shoot trap with a Rem 870, skeet and trap doubles are hard with a pump. but singles are fun even with a single shot 410

I've shot skeet with a 18" double barrel coach gun. It ain't easy and you have to be fast on target, but it can be tons of fun and lots of laughs.

put some weight out near the end I it will swing better and you don't have to be so fast

So it looks like this will be fine! Being that I have never done it before, I didn't want to get laughed off of the range.

I've seen people shooting 18.5" pumps with a pistol grip "all tactcool"

Make sure the range allows you to shoot your gun on their skeet/trap range.

Some ranges have a minimum barrel length, so like AAShooter says, check that out first. If not, see if you can borrow a friends, coworkers, whoever's gun. Just try it.

Call the range or check their website if they have one. It's generally posted.

Call ahead to the range you will be shooting at and ask. Most clubs are very friendly to newbies. I wouldn't be surprised if you showed up to your range and someone let you borrow one of their trap guns for a round.

I shot a 20 (not good, but only my third round of trap) with a benelli M4 with ghost rings, not bad, but not as good as the 23 I got with a 28" sporting semi

The key to trap is...nothing. Its really easy if you dOnt think about it.

I shoot trap with an 18 inch barreled .410 shotgun. I average about 18 with it. Its possible it just takes a learnig curve.

Seriously just relax, you have a lot of time for the shot. A cylinder choke will need to be hitting it somewhat quick out of the house because of the spread. Otherwise have fun and good luck

They have guns for rent, so if that's where you're going, just rent one of their guns to get a feel for how trap should be shot.

That's nothing, I went to Nevada and shot 15 with a Judge.
