I'm planning to buy the monster brake for my Saiga 12. Can I cut the barrel and pin the monster brake to the barrel for the legal 18" barrel? Will this also be good for the overall 26" length?

Actually it will be the JT ENGINEERING COMPETITION BRAKE instead. -
Yes, and yes. Although don't forget that the threaded part of the barrel and brake occupy the same length, so don't cut the barrel down to 16" then thread and add a 2" brake, because you'll end up with a barrel length of 17" or so depending on how much is threaded."The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. Almost forgot to mention, don't cut the barrel down past 18" with it still attached to the shotgun. You'll have a SBS on your hands for the time that the barrel is <18"."The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure."
