    Mossberg 500

I got a couple of hundred dollars from relatives for Christmas.
And saw this at Big 5. Thinking about picking this up after work today.

Does anybody know how hard it is to change out the stock?
Thinking of going Knoxx Spec Ops.

    Thanks Guys.

    It's super easy

You just remove the rubber pad on the end of the stock and unscrew
I'm not sure exactly how the knoxx goes on, but my ATI one just screws back on then you attach the collapsible stock to the pistol grip

    pretty easy....

I'm probably going to change out my ATI stock with a Knoxx one soon.

I got the same "security model" on Black Friday for 229.99 and I plan on going with the Knoxx spec op stock too. Do it it's a great shotty for the price. It handled everything I feed it.

my buddy was going to buy that for $179 i believe. it was a Moss. 500 but he backed out and got a Rem 870 instead, he liked the finish on mine better.

or post a WTB for one that already has the stock that you want.

Is there any real difference between the ATI stock and the Knoxx Spec Ops one?

not sure on the ATI, but teh spec ops has a mechanism that allows the receiver to ride up on the stock. There are two big springs in the spec ops that allows it to reduce recoil. I haad my moss 500 with a regular pistol grip and switched to the spec-ops, there is a noticeiable difference in recoil and muzzle rise. I would say at least 40-50% less recoil. I can go sporting clays and shoot 100 rounds of birdshot without issue. Buckshot/slug still isn't bad.

you'll need one long allen wrench, that's about it.

The ATI is kind of made cheap and the knoxx is a quality piece with a recoil dampening system....Knoxx is worth the money

I have one on my 590 but have yet to shoot it like that. Yesterday at the range I shot a slug out of Mcubed's 500 with Speccops on it and it was incredible. Very little recoil, followed by regular amount of muzzle rise. I needed a long allen wrench to put mine on. They recommend an allen wrench with the ball on the end so it can pivot alittle bit as you tighten.
Lord, make my hand fast and accurate.
Let my aim be true and my hand faster
than those who would seek to destroy me.
Grant me victory over my foes and those who wish to do harm to me and mine.
Let not my last thought be 'If I only had my gun."
And Lord, if today is truly the day you call me home, let me die in an empty pile of brass.

Here's how the Mossy 500 looks with the ATI top folder setup.

My old 500 looked exactly like that blfd. I could never get comfortable with the stock though and hated it. Before I sold it I was thinking about replacing it with a spec ops (which probably would have made it a lot better).

To the OP, stock replacement isnt that hard. If you can work a screwdriver/allen wrench you can do it.
