870 "Tactical" Barrel and Mag Help!

I picked up a remy 870 synthetic (tactical) with extended 2+ shot. When i brought it home, my friend and i compared it with his synthetic 870. I wanted to get a 28" barrel but we noticed that the mag was not an extended mag but actually a longer mag. Its a bit weird for me but I know that most if not all 870 barrels clamp down on the 4 shot part of the magazine which seems like the one i just bought clamps down on the 6th shot of the mag. Anyone else seen this or know where I can get a 28" barrel that clamps down on that position?

You got screwed by Remington's NEW Marketing concept.

See this thread: Your 870 is being FUBAR'd

          Sucks.

Look at the bright side though, you have a reason to get another gun (as if you needed a reason)

To compound the insult the box is still the old box and states "2 shot extension" on and that is of course not what you got. They are to cheap to even print new stickers for the gun box. But they have been for some time as the stick on the boxes have been stating 18" barrel for years, but Remington does not make 18" Barrels. They just keep printing the same sticker for the gun box year after year. You have now lost the most versatile thing about having an 870 and that is the ability to change barrels to fit your shooting needs.

Since your gun box clearly states it comes with a two shot extension, I would take it back and get Model 25549 which is identical to your friends except with a four shot tube, same stocks and same barrel. It should also be about $40 cheaper. You then go get a Wilson two shot extension for $45 and there you are. You have the weapon you want with a better extension and can still change barrels out.

I looked at the label last night and it said 2 shot extension and scratched my head in confusion. haha.
