    How is the 870 Wingmaster?

How is the 870 Wingmaster? I'm looking for a 20ga pump for hunting birds mostly.

Looking for anyone who has used one of these. Thanks

Get a used one, they're a much better value for the money. The newer ones aren't nearly as nice as they used to be...the finish is really uneven, the wood is sub-par the plastic parts suck and the plastic barrel retainer really blows when you're dropping 700-900 bucks when you can get a really nice used one with better bluing, better wood and all metal parts for less than half the price of a new one. You can have Briley install thinwalls on a fixed choke barrel and still spend less than what you would on a new one.

I see them all the time at Gunslingers, Gunrunners, the Shootist, gunbroker. Hunt around, patience will be rewarded I promise you, you'll have a good one before hunting season they're very very common.

I own three 870's and use a 26" 20ga for most of my bird hunting. Great shotgun!

Wants not to like for and for 50 yrs. Also agree with above, get a used one. Let someone else break it in and the old ones are better.

They have sold something like four million 870s (or is it eight million?) over the years---gotta be good! Look for used 870s in Calguns own for sale threads---great way to buy a gun and save money and sales tax (PPT), plus I also feel the older 870s are nicer than the new ones. Good luck with this.
