A friend of mine got a Vinci which has a 28" barrel. Does he have option to change out to a 18" I am not familiar with these shotguns.

Nope. Not an interchangeable barrel system. The receiver & barrel are one piece, and are serialized.

Pretty much. If you want to go that route, be sure to buy the gun with the longer field barrel. You can easily pick up an 18.5" barrel later. Not too many of the longer barrels floating around however.

I learned this the hard way, I've been searching for a black (as opposed to camo) field barrel for my M2 for about 9 months now. BTW love my M2, it's a great gun.

You will have to get a field model and the a 18.5 rifle sight barrel. The ghost ring set up is not grooved down the center of the reciever and not very sight plane friendly. The pistol grip stock drop cannot be adjusted. The rifle sights are low on the short barrel, the vent rib is long and high on the field barrel, and you will need to change the stock drop shims each time you change the barrels to get a correct angle for the sight picture. I had a 18.5 rifle sight barrel for my M2 field, and sold it just for this reason.

Agree, although I gotta say...look at the bird, not your barrel! I had no problem shooting clay pigeons in the desert with my ghost ring sighted M2.

Another option vs. adjusting stock drop is to change the comb inserts to different heights as needed. Assuming you have the Comfortech model.
