    Looking to get a shotgun....

I have a Mossberg that my father in law gave to me and I love shooting it. The fact that ammo is so cheap for shotguns is a big plus too.

I'm looking at a mossberg 590 with the mariner finish. Does anyone here have any experience with those? Also, could anyone recommend a pistol grip with an m4 style collapsible stock?

It is hard to go wrong with a Moss 590/500 or a Remington 870. You will find varying opinions on which is better but for the price, they are both reliable, affordable shotguns that have a lot of accessories available.

As far as the grip and collapsable stock, I have seen them range from $35 - $100

Depends on the brand, quality, and style you want.

Well to be honest I don't know jack about accessories for shotguns, but I would like something that is high quality and has a nice feel to it. Solid, not going to break, etc.

+1. I have an 870 and a good buddy of mine has a 500. Both are great options, with plenty of accessories available. You pretty much cant go wrong with either.

if you want to go with a pistol grip set-up, the 870 might be a better choice for you cus of the safety location. but both are great shotguns. go to your local fun shop and handle both of them.

I have a Mossberg 500 and I am happy with it. I am looking forward to get a pistol/buttstock for it.

Stick with the 870 or 500/590 and you can't go wrong. Which one you use should be what feels most comfortable to you.

Does anyone have any recommendations on pistol grip/telescoping stocks for the 590?

If you want recoil reduction as well, then you can't go wrong with the Knoxx SpecOps Stock.

I have an ATI Stock on mine. It's the cheapest. The quality is OK and it feels pretty solid. It does the job. I've shot Trap with it and I've fired Slugs with it and it works just fine. It comes with a recoil pad, so that's pretty nice.

My only complaint would be that it does make it hard to line up the sights. I made my own spacer to drop the comb of the stock, now it seems to line up fine

I think Mesa Tactical has a really nice adjustable stock, but I haven't used it though.

Awesome, I'll look into those. I have an ATI stock for my SKS and I like it but it's not exactly the worlds most high quality stock or anything. I'm not too super worried about the sights because I'd probably put a holosight on it which should be a bit above the usual eyeline.

+1 on the Knoxx SpecOps. I have one on my 870 Marine Magnum and love it:

Yeah, can't go wrong with the Marine finish for corrosion protection!
+1 on the 870 Marine and Mossberg 590 Mariner.

As for the stock, I prefer the SPEEDFEED Tactical stock with the 4 shellholder are held as spares in the stock! Softer rubber recoil pad is great for shooting slugs !

My personal Remington 870 has the Speedfeed straight stock w/ 4 shell holder because I never liked the recoil of the pistol grip (albeit looks great)...

I think they make them for Mossberg.

Try: Dave @ 2nd Amendment Enterprises - he stocks the Speedfeed stocks for Mossbergs (310) 376 0589

Sweet, I see the 870 is a bit more expensive than the 590. What are the differences between them?

I have a Remmy 870 and I like it alot, very smooth and solid.
From your description, I think the new Remmy 870 tactical w/ Knoxx stock built in from factory is something you might consider.
