Saiga 12 MUST have accessories??

To the Calgunners who own a Saiga12:

What do you think is the most essential Saiga12 accessory or accessories that I have to get for my s12. I was looking into their "low brass reliability kit" from carolina shooters:

Conversion. Length of pull and controllability are priceless after conversion.

while doing a conversion check your gas ports and make sure they are in spec and then add an auto plug, fine tune the plug and let her rip.

Conversion and bigger mags are all I'd say are NECESSARY. I have a muzzle brake that I like, but I haven't compared it with/without, so no clue if it does anything besides looks cool. I like my Ace 7.5 stock with 1" pad, the cheapo Tapco SAW grip is just fine for me, the new trigger is amazing. I stuck with the stock forend for a while, then grabbed a Chaos TriRail but felt it was just too damn heavy. Now I have one of those cheapo Tapco Intrafuse handguards which I like just fine, a foregrip, and a flashlight. That's it.

Nice and light, points well, fun to shoot. I think if I ever started doing 3 gun or something, I'd grab a LRBHO, magwell, polychoke, and left side charging handle mod, but it's not worth the money to me right now. Might eventually cut and pin a polychoke for 18" total bbl length. We'll see.

I'd get a recoil pad, and if you have trouble shooting low recoil loads drill out the gas port holes in the barrel.

That's it..no need to do a conversion, the gun feels fine as it is.

What do you guys think about the svd stock for the saiga12, I was leaning towards that because it didn't require any mods to the gun.

WHY SHOULD I CONVERT?

Upside:
~Removes complication from your fire control group.
~Improves every aspect of trigger pull. You get lighter pull, less friction, better feel, less slack, etc etc etc. Pulling a trigger rather than pulling a lever that tilts a bar that pulls the real trigger isn't the best setup.
~Puts the gun in the configuration that was intended.
~Improves ergonomics.
~Cuts the length of your gun by 4-5 inches. You also get to pick your Length of Pull by choosing from all the AK stocks in the world, which vary from American use (long) to Asian use (short).
~Puts the center of gravity closer to your body, making the gun more controllable.
~It will point better.
~It will aim faster.
~Recoil will be handled better.
~Some find a pistol grip makes getting back on target much easier and faster. I am one of those. So is every military on the planet.
~You get to use high capacity magazines such as the MD-20 20 round drum with no legality issues from the Federal government.(not in Kalifornia)
~If you do it yourself, you'll get some pride and a detailed knowledge of how everything works.
~You get in the secret club. We'll teach you the handshake later.
~And finally, chicks dig it.


Downside:
~The parts do cost money.
~The labor either costs money or your own time.
~There are only two downsides.
~Stop looking for a downside

Well, I shot my new Saiga12 once. The weight was waaay out front and the recoil was like straight up. Yuck. I got one of those conversion kits from Carolina and an Autoplug and brake from the Saiga-12 site right after, and watched the videos as I waited for my parts. The conversion was easy to do with a drill and some basic hand tools.

Must have? Yes, in my opinion. It now handles as it was designed to. The Autoplug is also a must have. I took the Saiga out to the desert so I can rapid fire and "tuned" it and now I don't have to think about different ammo. It shoots everything reliably.

Really, the only must have is ammo and magazines, but shooting it stock is like trying to enjoy a performance car with used retreads on it.

i love my jt magwell !!! its works great with my smg 10 rounders !!! oh and another must have is a tromix bolt on charging handle ! makes rackin her back a dream .
