    Your 870 is being FUBAR'd

Freedom Group has hired a bunch of clowns from other manufactures and they are trying to bring a bunch of mess with them. Look at thier latest mess

What this does is prevents you from using the standard 870 barrels you may have now. It makes this HD a dedicated weapon and you would have to buy a sporting model if you want to do other things with a shotgun. This means they sell more guns. It is nothing but a revenue driven attempt to increase sales. What has made the 870 the grunt of pump shotguns is you can buy one and with a few extra barrels you can do anything a shotgun needs to do.

Call Remington and tell those young turks to stop messing with a perfect design. While there tell them to fire all their QC people and get some that know somthing about these weapons. Hit them in the wallet and they will stop this mess.

If you're going to a gun fight, take a shotgun. If you can't take a shotgun, don't go.

Don't some people like having dedicated weapons? I wouldn't mind have 1 swiss army knife shotgun, but I already have two.

    Mossberg 500= HD
    Fetherlight=skeet, sport etc...

I'm missing something... Why won't you be able to use other barrels?

whats the difference between buying this versus buying an express and then buying a knoxx to make it a home defense...

          I don't get it...

How is this a problem unless they are mandatory this on every new 870s?
No one says you have to buy this model, does it?

I agree. A gun like 870 is made for sporting purposes only. Dont vilify it and make into a weapon rather than a tool. Its so much more dangerous this way! I am calling remington right now!!!

Looks like a different magazine tube putting the band for the magazine cap further up the barrel? A standard barrel cannot be installed.

They hired Mossberg to design their 870?

P.S. Looks like they are done screwing up Marlins for a while and decided to finish off Remington.

I get why some don't like it, but I honestly like it more than the standard model. I don't care for the add-on +shot extenders and clamps, I would rather have this model, with a speedfeed stock.

                        ><

That stock is going to put a hurt on a lot of shooters. OUCH!

If this becomes the HD then you loose the ability to put shorter barrels on your sporting 870 or any sporting barrels on this one. It is not an issue for most of us. Me, I have about every barrel you would what and if I want one I don't have I can afford it as I am a volume Remington parts dealer. I can also afford any weapon I want. However, a lot of people can't afford multiple shotguns and the best feature of the 870 is that they make 110 barrels for the 870 12 ga and any 12 ga 870 barrel fits any 12ga 870 (except MCS because of the position of the barrel ring).

Nothing wrong with improving a design. For example: if they made the ejector where it was attached with tapped screws instead of rivets, you would not need to refinish the entire receiver to replace it. Have they tried to improve on that issue? No, they have not. They are revenue driven now. A reasonable upgrade to this weapon does not increase sales in any way. I fear the Pride of Remington Arms has been sold out to a massive conglomerate.

As for those of you that don't get it. Yes, you don't.
